1. Acceptance
By accessing rediscoverearth.com, a visitor agrees to these Terms of Use. A visitor who does not agree should stop using the site.
2. Nature of the service
Rediscover Earth is an editorial discovery atlas. It provides general information, images, search and mapping features about places around the world and may publish moderated first-hand stories submitted by visitors. It is not a travel agency, booking platform, tour operator, emergency service or official authority.
3. Information is not a guarantee
Descriptions, recommended travel windows, distances, access notes and other details are editorial or approximate. Conditions, laws, closures, safety risks, transport, prices, borders, permits and weather can change. Visitors should verify material information with current official and local sources before travelling.
4. Visitor responsibility
Visitors remain responsible for their own decisions, safety, insurance, documents, permissions and compliance with local rules. Some locations may involve remote terrain, weather exposure, wildlife, political risk, private property or limited rescue capacity.
5. External links and maps
The site may link to third-party maps, sources, licences or websites. Those services are controlled by their respective operators and have their own terms and privacy practices. A link does not constitute a guarantee or endorsement.
6. Images and attribution
Some photography is reused under open licences and is credited on the Image credits page. The applicable licence governs reuse of that photograph. Site layout, original text, branding and software remain protected separately.
7. Community contributions
A contributor must be at least 18 years old and may submit only first-hand text and photographs that the contributor owns or is authorised to use. A submission must not contain unlawful, defamatory, threatening, discriminatory, deceptive, promotional or malicious material; private contact details; precise sensitive locations that could cause harm; or images of identifiable people who have not agreed to publication.
Submissions are reviewed before publication. Rediscover Earth may edit formatting, correct obvious spelling, request clarification, reject, unpublish or remove a contribution. Submission does not guarantee publication, a response or a particular publication date.
8. Contributor rights and licence
The contributor keeps ownership of original submitted text and photographs. By submitting, the contributor grants Rediscover Earth a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, moderate, reproduce, resize, re-encode, display, distribute and promote the contribution as part of the website and its own discovery channels. The licence includes technical adaptations required for web publication but does not transfer ownership.
The contributor may request removal by contacting stories@rediscoverearth.com. Removal from the active site does not require deletion of backups or records that must be retained for security, legal obligations or the defence of claims.
9. Community information
Traveller stories describe an individual contributor's experience at a particular time. They are not verified as official travel guidance and may be incomplete, subjective or outdated. Visitors must verify current access, safety, transport, prices, permits and local rules independently.
10. Intellectual property
Unless a separate licence is stated, Rediscover Earth retains rights in its original text, design, branding, data arrangement and software. Visitors may link to public pages and quote short extracts with attribution. Republishing substantial portions, copying the visual system or creating a competing bulk dataset requires prior written permission.
11. Acceptable use
Visitors must not attempt to damage, overload, bypass, probe or misuse the site; introduce malicious code; interfere with other users; scrape at a rate that disrupts the service; misrepresent affiliation; or use the site for unlawful activity.
12. Availability and changes
The service, content and features may be corrected, updated, suspended or removed without prior notice. Rediscover Earth does not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability.
13. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rediscover Earth is provided on an “as available” basis without warranties that every item is complete, current or suitable for a particular journey. The operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from reliance on the site, third-party services or travel decisions. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. Privacy and storage
Use of personal data and browser storage is described in the Privacy Policy and Cookies and Storage Policy.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by Romanian law, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply in the visitor's country. Disputes are subject to the competent courts determined by applicable law.
16. Changes and contact
The terms may be updated as the service develops. The date at the top identifies the current version. Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@rediscoverearth.com. Community moderation and removal requests can be sent to stories@rediscoverearth.com.
